For about three years, I’ve wanted to narrate one of my own stories. Now I can finally say I’ve done it: my Halloween novella, The Hallows Are Monstrous, is available as an audiobook on YouTube, narrated by yours truly!
All chapters are up and ready to listen to, and the entire audiobook is FREE.
The audiobook is releasing on YouTube in three free segments, with the final installment arriving just in time for Halloween weekend!
- October 27 — Segment 1: Introduction and Chapters 1–9.
- October 28 — Segment 2: Introduction and Chapters 10–17.
- October 29 — Segment 3: Introduction and Chapters 11 through the Epilogue, plus “Thank You for Listening” and “About the Author.”
Listen as each segment arrives, or save all three for a Halloween weekend listening marathon. I’m so excited to finally share this story in my own voice!
Getting to write those words feels pretty wonderful, because making this happen was an adventure. I had to learn new programs, do a whole lot of tinkering, and occasionally wonder what I’d gotten myself into. There were moments when I thought this project might actually drive me insane. Apparently, writing something monstrous wasn’t enough—I also needed to wrestle with the technology required to read it aloud.
But after all that learning and tinkering, I’m happy with my first audiobook. There’s something special about bringing a story to life in my own voice, and finally sharing something I’ve wanted to do for so long makes the struggle worth it.

If you’re looking for a Halloween listen, I’d love for you to spend a little time with The Hallows Are Monstrous. Get comfortable, grab your favorite fall drink, and let me read you a story.
